Mental Health Support Team ethos

Everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported when accessing our service.  We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where all students feel valued and able to be themselves. This reflects the University of Manchester's wider commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. You can find out more here: Equality, diversity and inclusion | The University of Manchester

We recognise that experiences of discrimination, prejudice, exclusion, or inequality can have a significant impact on mental health and wellbeing. Our staff receive ongoing training to help them better understand and support the diverse experiences of students from all backgrounds, including different identities, cultures, beliefs, abilities, ages, nationalities, genders, and sexual orientations. We are also proud of the diversity that exists within our own workforce.

We also understand that some students may be involved in sex work, including online content creation, escorting, and other forms of work. We recognise that stigma and judgement can make it difficult to seek support. If this is part of your experience, please know that the Mental Health Support Team offers a confidential, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about anything affecting your wellbeing.

Our focus is on supporting you and your mental health, whatever your circumstances.
